QUESTION:
A 9 year old child is receiving death benefits from his deceased father. His mother then passes away after illness. Will the child continue to receive the death benefits from the deceased mother if he is adopted?
ANSWER: No. Those benefits will continue, notwithstanding his adoption and the new dependancy on new parents.

The adoption of a child already entitled to benefits does not terminate the child's benefits..."
